I can't decide! I like both. I too am looking to make these confident lines, but I like color a lot. But then, I worry I'll ruin it with color. What's the answer?! lol
I know, it is hard to know when something is finished. I think as long as we are working in sketchbooks, and it's not for paying jobs, anything goes, and there is no "ruining". It's all a part of the learning and growing process.
I love your daily journal entry drawings. I can feel the energy you describe in today's post and it increases the connection between artist and viewer.
This is timely. I struggle mightily with creating confidant, expressive lines. I admire work that is wonky and expressive rather than realistic and yet when I try to draw I get caught up in getting it "right" with accurate proportions etc. It ends up being tortured into existence. Drawing is very angst filled for me.
the fires have decided for me: I'll be moving back east in about 6 months or so (possibly less). I look forward to being near enough to do in person meet-ups, etc.
I’m always nervous about simple line drawings — especially blind contours — but then when I actually do them it’s exhilarating! I need to remember more often your advice to start that way as a warm up, Sam!
I love your sketches and notes from Savannah. Ever considered a class there?. In the winter, I live an hour away in St Simons Island. I’d gladly make the drive 💕
Love your sketches ! Also love the cat 🐈
I’m in UK and wanting to come see my family in NJ and NYC and would so love to attend a workshop . I’ll look into that, thank you
Thank you! And would love to have you at one of the workshops! Let me know if I can help.

I love these journal entries, esp when you add splashes of color. So good!
Thanks, Amy!
