Sam, your kindness infuses your work. Both your words and your drawings. Thank you for sharing so much of yourself with strangers. I would love to win the Skillshare year so I could access your inspiration on a whim! We need more of your spirit in today’s world ❌⭕️. Michele

I would love to win Skillshare and art supplies. I would choose to be a forever student and can never have enough art supplies. I love watching your videos. You seem like the most thoughtful patient person. I need to work on those character traits!

You have continued to inspire me over and over again, and having access to Skillshare for a year would be so beneficial to my growth as an artist. I had a trial but it expired and I can't really spend money on something like that right now. Also art supplies are always a plus!

Sam, I really love the Rick Rubin quote - I'm reminded of a Rick Rubin I worked with a long time ago. I'd love to win a year of Substack - I often consider subscribing, but it's difficult to manage on a small pension. Whether I win or not, I'm so inspired by and learn from all you share. Thank you!

Hi Teri, sometimes there are glitches so you could try again. But I also heard from others that only US and Canada can now take the free classes on Michael’s. Hoping they fix this but no word yet. Are you abroad?

If I won a subscription to Skillshare, I would be as excited as Belle when she sees the library at the Beast’s castle for the first time. An entire catalogue of art classes., including access to your classes!!! What more could one ask for?

I’ve been meaning to join skillshare but haven’t had the time yet--I would love to join for the fall and take your classes with my 8 year old!

I love seeing all the sketchbooks people post on Substack. Everyone is so different and inspiring. And your article today about revisiting your past work has affirmed my own dive into the archives to find subjects to post on my page. They all speak of another time and experience, but updating them with fresh the changes and growth that has taken place has become a delightful and enriching challenge. Thank you, Samantha, for this piece, and the quote with the energizing line, " we are not playing to win, we are playing to play."

It’s so neat to hear how you find inspiration from your own past work, Sam. I’ve been meaning to look back on my first couple of sketchbooks to see what aspects of my sketching and painting have changed, evolved, or stayed the same. I’d love to win the skill share subscription so I can catch up on your classes and try Oh Mar’s classes, too. 😊 Thanks for sharing your beautiful sketchbook pages with us in this essay!
