This story and visuals are wonderful and inspiring. Creating a scholarship is, in my mind and heart, one of the most meaningful acts we can do, so that our loved ones live on. Thank you for sharing.ππ
So cool about grandmother and great aunt! I love that they made space for each other by agreeing to take on different but complementary art mediums. Fantastic story!
I joined recently and was going back through some of the earlier postings - My grandmother was named Elsie and her sister (although not a twin) was named Evelyn. What a sweet story. So much talent in your family. Thanks for sharing and congratulations on the creation of the scholarship program - what a beautiful way to honor their memory.
This story and the pictures you shared are so wonderful Sam. I had read your Instagram story and just loved your Mommom and her sister. What a great heritage and how fantastic to create the scholarship in their name!!
Samantha, this family story deserves more! Thank you for sharing! You are all so lucky to have had the opportunity to pursue your artistic talents! I love that your mother set up a scholarship fund for those in need!
I already knew about the history of your grandmother and aunt, itβs really touching but the fund to honor their names and help young artists created by your parents is a new to me :) so amazing!!! The world needs more people with good heart. Thank you for sharing a bit of your family history with us. Good weekend Sam!
Hi Teresa, Thanks so much. Yes, the scholarship and all my mom has been doing over these past months has been a little on the down low. I am happy to be able to share what she's accomplished now that it is real.
Thank you for sharing this fabulous story. Maybe my granddaughter, Samantha Shuflit, can apply for that scholarship in 3 years! She has a similar heritage with a great grandmother who was a fine artist. And we have good friends who still live in Amagasset. I hope they knew her. Iβm asking today. I love this whole story. Thank you so much for sharing it! Good for your Mom. Itβs got me thinking. Michele
They didnβt know her but now they are very intrigued. They collect art for both their home in NY and in Park City. And they want meaningful pieces that they love so the connection with an artist that was local interests them. Good for you for telling this storyβ¦who knows where it will go!
Thank you so much for sharing about your family's history, your grandmother and great aunt's art is lovely. I would like to see more. They would be so proud of how you are continuing the art, and helping others to learn and benefit from sharing more beauty in the world.

Yes, we have always been amazed by that pact they made. I really shows how creativity can take on any form if you are driven to just make and create!

Thank you, Alison. And love that your grandmother and her sister had the same names!

Thank you so much, Angie!
What an impressive and inspiring story. It reads as a novel. And the photo of them as girls is so sweet, their personalities pushing through the lens.
Thank you, Renee!

Thanks so much, Susie. I do feel lucky when I think about the role models I have had in my life!

I love how small the world is! Please let me know if your friends knew Elsie (and Steve) Manville.

What an amazing life your grandmother and great aunt had.
They really did have great lives, and I am so thrilled they can be celebrated this way, paying it forward. :)
This was such a lovely and inspiring read! There should be a book written about them for sure
What a heritage you have! Super cool women your aunts were...ahead of their time!
