In all three of my books, Draw Your Day, Draw Your World, and Draw Your Day for Kids!, there are fairly large sections on tools and materials. Each time I wrote these chapters, I began with the same sentiment: It is not the tools that make great artwork, it is practice, consistency, and owning your style. You can make great work with any pencil or even a ballpoint pen! That said, who doesn’t love new art supplies? It’s a pretty great feeling to come home from the art supply store and unwrap some new paints, brushes, and pens. They all look so inviting and make us feel like they will help us perform magic when we put them to paper or canvas.
