Special Edition: A Paris List
Our list of favorite spots to window-shop, eat, and get filled to the brim with inspiration
Paris Recommendations
I am not a tour guide by any stretch, and I am only familiar with a small fraction of what Paris has to offer. I am not a foodie, but I love healthy and easy food. I am happy with a falafel to go, eaten on a walk to the Seine. But I also love a good glass of wine, so that involves sitting down for a proper meal. Luckily, my husband is a much better vacation planner than I am, so we always have some restaurant reservations booked ahead of time.
I know where I love to go window-shopping. I am a creature of habit as well, so I have some favorite French brands that I have been loyal to for years. It is always so fun to visit APC and agnès b. when in Paris. Art supply and stationery shops are also always on my list. And the art . . . there is so much art in Paris, it’s overwhelming. You cannot even begin to see it all, so I like to take in little bits and pieces.
In Paris, like in New York City, it is fair to say that you cannot do it all and you also cannot go wrong. So much to do and see! Just wander around the gardens all day, walk for miles down city streets, climb the Eiffel Tower. There’s no need to shop if you aren’t into that, and you can just grab a baguette and cheese or a croissant if you don’t want to deal with restaurants. You can also easily be outside wandering and sketching for hours. The streets, the architecture, the public art, the parks and gardens, it is all so beautiful. All of that said, here is my current list of Paris recommendations
Museums:
I really enjoy smaller museums because you can do a few in one day, really absorb the art and take your time, and they are usually less overrun with tourists. (That said, the Louvre and the Musée d’Orsay are a must if you have never been.)
