Prompt No. 11: Clothing
From a dress in a shop window to a tattered old T-shirt, clothing is a lot of fun to draw!
The prompts I provide to paid subscribers are meant to be referenced whenever a push or new inspiration is needed. There are no rules or guidelines for how to use these prompts.
As I look through my archives of sketchbook drawings, I realize that I don’t draw clothing as often as I thought I did. I need to fix this! Articles of clothing are one of my favorite subjects because you can be really loose or quite detailed, focusing on one small element like a button or a few embroidered stitches. I always think of the J. Peterman catalog that my mother would receive in the mail when I attempt to make a small drawing of a dress or shirt. Those little illustrations always made me swoon. I think so many artists wanted that gig!
