65: A Post Written Longhand
On a very hot election day in NYC, I decided to write to you off screens
I wrote this the way I write many of my letters—a bit stream of consciousness.
Here’s a post that shares more about my love of writing letters and the joy of connecting in this way. For me it simply feels good to write by hand, and I enjoy the way the thoughts flow—it’s a bit more real. Like a sketch made with a continuous line or a pen. In Draw Your Adventures, there’s a special section all about sending art and sharing memories by mail while you travel. Below is one of the illustrations from the book.
And closer to normal programming, here is a recent sketchbook I made on the day of my son’s 21st birthday—the portrait is in honor of his first legal drink. He had a few sips and then passed it on. Just like his mom, he’s not a big drinker.
• The next Draw Your World subscriber meetup is on July 1st at 3pm. We will be doing our first Draw Your Adventures prompt! All invitations are shared in the subscriber chat.

I hope some of you can join me tomorrow evening, June 25th, from 6-8pm for a fun workshop that I am teaching under the archway in DUMBO. This year we will be creating continuous line faces or portraits and then painting them and filling the shapes with color and collage. This is an all-level workshop. Click here to book your spot.
Join me for the release party for my new book, Draw Your Adventures—July 15th, 2025! At Dawn’s ‘til Dusk, 33 Main Street, in Brooklyn, NY, from 6-8pm.
Anyone who brings proof of a pre-order OR their own copy of the book for me to sign will receive a free second copy of Draw Your Adventures!
There will be drinks, light snacks, and my favorite treats from One Girl Cookies. I can’t wait to celebrate with you all!
Please RSVP if you think you can make it so we have an idea of how many people will be there.

My son turned 21 in June as well, Sam! We went out to the restaurant of his choice and he picked out a cocktail from the list (mojito)…when the server came around to collect our orders, he went into autopilot and asked for a root beer 😂
Your handwriting is quite readable, a nice combination of print and cursive, which I believe most of us adopt when we find our own penmanship. I've been reverting back to cursive, though, just to retune my hand/brain connection.
